About the Author

I'm Yan, a thirty year old Flash Developer living and working in London. I currently work for a large market research company. My main responsibility is to create and develop customised interactive surveys, with particular focus on developing new ways to engage respondents.

Flash has enabled me to combine my love of art and design with my education in technology. In my own time I enjoy creating Flash games, as can be evidenced by the gallery on the front page. With an initial idea to recreate some classics I am now looking to create some new titles with innovative gameplay. These will be posted to the gallery as and when they are completed, so check back for updates.

Away from the world of Flash, I am an avid snowboarder and have recently become interested in power kiting. Whether I build up the nerve to combine the two remains to be seen! I am also a keen amateur artist, mostly in pencil but with an emerging interest in digital art.

About the Site

The creation of the site itself has proved to be a very valuable learning tool and has helped me learn about web standards, XHTML and CSS. The primary function of the site is to act as a development blog. I hope to keep track of where I am with personal projects and to document the process of creating Flash games. All finished work will be posted to the gallery on the front page. I hope also to produce some tutorials from time to time, to give something back to the Flash community that has always been available when needed.

The site itself is based, of course, in HTML with the layout defined in CSS. I managed to get the HTML validated as XHTML strict. The games are displayed in overlays using scriptalicioius and lightbox2. The content is driven by Expression Engine and the whole thing is hosted by eukHost.
